BEST LOOKS FOR NEW YEARS EVE'

"This year is all about the statement blazer."

"This year is all about the statement blazer."

Be sure to start your new year off with a bold look like these featured! New Years is a great time to go all out and dress a little louder than normal. This year it is all about a good statement blazer, whether that be florals, patters, or even sequins! One of my resolutions for 2016 is to take even more risk with my style. I'm fond of statement pieces but I've let people's opinions and my own nerves keep me from wearing certain looks at times. So here's to a new year full of new opportunities and doors that I hope to be open to me. I just want to thank God for the wonderful year I've had. 2015 has been one of the most difficult and challenging but also rewarding times of my life. There is something so beautiful about starting fresh.

Happy New Year! See you in 2016!

STEP UP YOUR CHRISTMAS SWEATER GAME

Forget the "ugly Christmas sweater"! This seasons sweaters are full of color, pattern, and tons of Christmas cheer. As in all of these looks, you can't go wrong by layering your sweater over a flannel or crisp, white button up. It makes for a very dapper look that is super comfortable and casual. The best part is you can actually wear red and green together, because it's actually December now. Check out stores like Target, Gap, Old Navy, and H&M for some great sweaters that won't break your budget this season. I hope you and your families have a wonderful Christmas season!

BLACK OUT LOOKS DONE RIGHT

You can never go wrong with an all black outfit. My recent visit to New York has me wearing all black, all the time. It just looks great on everyone. Each of these 4 looks show how different you can take an all black outfit. It can be styled to be more dressy and dapper or street and casual.   I really love throwing a different pattern or color on with a solid black outfit. For example, I might put on some really bright "Chuck Taylors" or a patterned scarf. I have to remind myself that there are other colors! If there was a darker color, I would be wearing it!

Black it out

OOTD: Wool and Leather

Zara pants, H&M blazer, Rock & Republic blazer, Aldo tie, Rock & Republic Boots

I absolutely love my leather pants! I wear them with absolutely everything. With this look, I've paired them with darker suit pieces to give them a more polished look. Adding a dark, emerald green button down makes the look a little more edgy. I love when I can mix dapper and edgy for a look that isn't so common.

OOTD: THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS

( AEROPOSTALE SWEATER, AMERICAN EAGLE JEANS, CARBON BUTTON UP, VANS SHOES, URBAN OUTFITTERS DECOR )

It's the most wonderful timeeeeeee of the yearrrrrrrr! I'm loving this Aeropostale sweater to help me transition through the holidays. It is just like watching 'The Nightmare Before Christmas'. I usually watch it on Halloween and Christmas. It's the best of both worlds! I also loved shooting this in my hometown on my great grandparents farm. I love when I get to incorporate some family history into my fashion pieces. Thanks so much to my mom for getting these awesome shots. For when it gets colder, this outfit would look great with a lighter cape coat or pea coat to break up the darker colors. I have to remind myself to wear more than just black and navy during the winter. Other colors do exist, Dillan!

STAY WILD OOTD

 JACKET: FOREVER21 MEN// T-SHIRT: OLD NAVY// PANTS: AMERICAN EAGLE// HAT: TARGET// BOOTS: URBAN OUTFITTERS//

Hey guys! I hope you are doing great! I found this mural while out running the other day and I just knew I had to do a shoot with it. I also love that it gave me my title as well. Stay wild! The area I live has dozens of these murals all over the place. Atlanta has so much talent it's crazy!

So this week's look is super casual and super affordable! You can't get better than that. Comfy and cheap, 2 words I love to hear. This outfit is a great example of how to wear a flannel around your waist the right way. I'm super picky when it comes to wearing them. I don't want them to look like a skirt or make my hips look super weird. Layering a jacket over a flannel is a great way to keep your silhouette looking masculine. I love how the orange in the pants plays off the t-shirt print and goes nicely with the denim and olive green fedora. It's very urban, campy cowboy. That's a thing right?

STYLE TIP: DON'T WEAR A FLANNEL AROUND YOUR WAIST WITH SHORTS. YOU WILL PROBABLY LOOK LIKE YOUR WEARING A SKIRT.

Fall Inspiration

CHIMNEY SWEEP SCARVES, COLLARS UNDER SWEATERS, AND FLANNELS FOR DAYS

I have a love/hate relationship with fall. I just can't deal with it being hot and cold in the same day. I would rather it be 60 below and snowing or 95 and sunny; either or. So, Fall, make up your mind! This is also the time of the year where I pull out all of my heavy winter coats and sweaters and then get mad because it's still too hot to wear them comfortably until December. Luckily, they are saying it will be a  super cold winter this year. Bring it on! I'm ready for beanies, scarves, and 14 plus layers of clothes.

FALL TRENDS

I just love when an everyday article of clothing is worn in a new and creative way; making a trend out of something that everyone already has in their closet. This way you don't have to spend any money. Just grab a bandanna from your closet (or in my case my dad's). Adding this to a layered outfit is a great way to add interest to a fall look. Be careful with your denim though, unless your cool with looking like a cowboy.

What I'm Rock'n: Blazer: Target// Sweater: Chaps// Tie: Lord and Lady// Pants: Aeropostale// Boots: Rock and Republic// Socks: Target// Scarf: Target//

This look was heavily inspired by Gossip Girl. I took a few notes from Chuck Bass and mixed a few patterns and colors for a non traditional look that is still put together. I'm not a huge fan of suits, but I love using separate suit pieces and putting them together with other casual pieces.

OOTD: Custom Hand Painted Denim

What I'm Rock'n:
Jeans: Denim & Supply// Sweater: Mossimo// Jacket: Custom// Boots: Khols// Scarf: American Eagle// Beanie: H&M//

It's starting to feel like Fall here it Atlanta and I am so excited for it! Winter is my season! I operate best in cooler temperatures. I love layering scarves and sweaters, preparing for all the holiday family gatherings, and the few days of the year that we might see some snow. Is it too much to ask for a white Christmas?! We saw a few inches last year, so I'm hoping for the same this year.

I got this denim jacket from my Dad's closet and came out with this hand-painted Chief look. If you ever attempt something similar, make sure to use fabric paint so your design won't crack! I cannot stress this enough. With the jacket being the statement piece, I went simple with everything else; A nice knit sweater paired with grey jeans, dark boots, and a coal beanie. I love that no one sees the design until I'm walking away. It's the perfect double take jacket!

23 LESSONS IN STYLE FROM CHUCK BASS

"Spotted"

Who better to look to for unique style than Chuck Bass. This Gossip Girl bad boy is famous for his "all suit" wardrobe. Don't worry though, his suits are anything but traditional. Chuck has been known for his mixing of bold colors, clashing patterns, and the world's largest collection of ascots and bow ties. Here are 23 lessons you can learn from the style icon.

  1. Don't be afraid of color
  2. When mixing patterns and prints, keep them in the same color tones for the best effect
  3. Tailoring is everything
  4. Switch out the tie for an ascot
  5. Always make a statement
  6. Learn to love a bow tie
  7. Wear white before, during, and after labor day
  8. Get yourself some red suspenders; one of his most iconic moments
  9. There is no wrong time for a 3 piece suit
  10. Mix stripes with argyle
  11. Patterned suits work best in neutrals
  12. Dress as if your going to the Hamptons everyday
  13. Own multiple pea-coats in multiple colors
  14. Love the velvet Blazer
  15. Try different cuts in suits
  16. Choose a bold tie if your shirt is muted
  17. Don't forget the importance of a pocket square
  18. Remember your complimentary colors
  19. All black is always a good idea
  20. Tailored suits call for tailored hair
  21. Pop your collar
  22. Pocket squares are great for a pop of color
  23. You have to be confident to rock a Chuck Bass inspired suit

Fashion Week 2015: Street Style Favorites

New York Fashion Week is over and London Fashion Week is coming to a close. I'm still mourning another year that I'm not there! Thank God for the internet so I can at least pretend I was there. I've been really busy promoting and growing my blog, WWW.MOORETHANSTYLE, so that hopefully I'll be sitting on the front row as an established fashion blogger one day. Style has always inspired me; helped me approach new challenges in my life simply by changing my outfit. They are just clothes, but there is something about styling outfits that change who you are if you get what I mean. They become like armor in a way. Hopefully that makes sense. If you love fashion, you will understand I'm sure.

Here are some of my absolute favorite street style looks from NY and London. These looks have me dreaming of winter time style! I'm ready for scarves, gloves, and lots of layers!

The Fashion Envy is real!
